Field Trips at HealthWorks!

Woohooo! HealthWorks! LOVES field trips! Students and teachers (aka pretend students!) can expect a high-energy, fun-filled, silly, lesson-learning educational experience each time they visit! The group will be greeted in the lobby by the HW! crew and our friend, Brian the Brain. Then there are three unique experiences during the visit – a whappy and educational health lesson in the Learning Lab with a HW! High Flying Kid Motivator (Educator), the interactive movie inside the Brain Theater, and free play on the Funtastic Floor. Teachers and chaperones will join in all the fun, too!

General Field Trip Information

Length: The actual experience is 1.5-2 hours long, depending on program chosen. Pre-K programs are 90-minutes, while all other grade levels are 2 hours. Please allow an extra 20 minutes for welcome, potty breaks, and transitions.

Cost: $6 per child for 90-minute programs; $7 per child for 2-hour programs – Teachers and chaperones are free.

What’s included in the field trip? An interactive health lesson of choice (either 30 minutes or 1 hour), 30-minute movie inside the interactive Brain Theater, 30 minutes of free play on the Funtastic Floor.

GermBusters

Grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten
Topic: Germs and Hygiene

Splish! Splash! Preschoolers love taking a bath!
We’ll get lathered up as we sing, dance and learn about
staying clean and healthy from the outside in.
Getting clean has never been so fun!

Down on the Farm

Grades: Pre-K; Kindergarten
Topic: Healthy Habits
Length:  30 minutes
Cost: $6 per student

Come along for an unbelievably fun time as we learn how to be smart by making great food choices! We’ll also get active by wiggling, jumping, galloping, and hopping all over the place. Kids get to help Farmer Velcro Man and his cast of animals in this very interactive program down on the farm!

Superhero Healthy

Grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten
Topic: Healthy Habits
Length: 30 minutes

Calling all superheroes! Grab your capes and join the search for healthy foods. We will run, hop, and fly to the rescue as we learn about good nutrition! This class will empower even the youngest child to make good choices so they can grow strong and healthy.

Fantastic Five, Jr.

Grades: Pre-K, Kindergarten

Do you know you have super powers? Yep, your super senses! In this program, we uncover all the amazing things our senses do to keep us safe, as well as how they work and how we can keep them strong! After this program, the world will make so much more SENSE!

Move It Jr.

We all love food, but what exactly are we eating? Move It Jr. takes us through the five food groups on MyPlate. We dance and giggle through a lesson that teaches us all about how our favorite foods keep us healthy!

Your Body: The
Greatest Show!

Grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd
Topic: Human Body
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Come one; come all to the greatest show on earth! Your body will surely amaze and astound you! Kids and adults will experience high-wire learning as they laugh, giggle, and clown around under HealthWorks! Big Top. Join the Ring Master as you are guided through four circus acts featuring our skin, muscles, bones, and brains.  It’s a show you won’t want to miss!

Move It

Grades: 1st, 2nd
Topic: Healthy Habits
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

This program, which features the five food groups, keeps muscles moving, hearts pumping, and lungs breathing as kids learn about the benefits of healthy eating, staying active, and getting enough sleep.

Fantastic Five

Grades: 1st, 2nd

This SENSE-ational program takes you on a superhero tour through your body’s senses. Follow your nose to the sweet and stinky smells. Tickle your taste buds with sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Your brain’s esSCENTial when it comes to discovering the world around you.

Topic: Healthy Choices
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Is exercise important? What’s a healthy meal? Why should we wash our hands? And what about brushing our teeth? Is smoking really that bad? Kids follow Alex to learn about these healthy habits as they navigate the many choices they face in a day. This program includes a fun interactive video experience as well as lots of hands-on participation.

Healthy Choices,
Healthy YOU!

Topic: Healthy Habits; Chronic Disease Prevention
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Come meet Hugo, a healthy kid who’s going to introduce us to some people that need our help. They’ve got chronic diseases, and we’re going to learn all about what they are and how to prevent them in our own lives! Learn to be an advocate in this fun and educational program!

Double Dare

Grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th
Topic: Human Body
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Spin the wheel to discover incredible facts about the anatomy and physiology of the heart, lungs, kidneys, bones, stomach and muscles! Classes participate in a friendly competition as wild props and crazy costumes are used to give insight into the workings of the human body. By the end of this program, the whole room will be on their feet or doubled over with laughter as learning comes to life!

Be A Food Groupie

Grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th
Topic: Food and Nutrition
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Everyone eats—but why? This program explains the purpose of food and why all food choices are NOT created equally. Equip yourself with “smart-food-know-how” by choosing whole grains, reading food labels, and avoiding portion distortion. Through fun demonstrations, kids will have a great time increasing their food I.Q’s!

Clean Up Your Act

Grades: 4th, 5th, 6th
Topic: Hygiene
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

When you keep your body clean, you’re doing what is called HYGIENE! This program takes a light approach in addressing the importance of good personal hygiene and some of the changes boys and girls can expect as they enter puberty, without covering menses.

Anatomy Academy

Grades: 6th, 7th, 8th
Topic: Anatomy & Physiology
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

In this hands-on course, students get to observe the dissection of a pig’s heart and examine real pig lungs. Using stethoscopes, pulse oximeters, and x-rays, students will learn about the anatomy and physiology of their own heart and lungs as well as discover some fascinating facts about their bodies. *Note that this program is limited to 30 participants at one time.

Your Amazing Body

Grades: 6th, 7th, 8th
Topic: Human Body
Length:  1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Using a game show format, kids take a remarkable tour of the body to uncover incredible facts about the heart, lungs, kidneys, bones, stomach, and muscles. With fun game show questions, friendly competition, and lots of class participation, this program is a hit!

Escape the Germs

Grades: Mixed ages in 3rd-6th grades
Topic: Germs
Length: 1 hour
Cost: $7 per student

Enter, if you dare, into the Mad Scientist’s Laboratory! Escape the Germs is an exciting, team-based challenge where each group works together to race against the clock, solving puzzles to learn about germs. Students and teachers alike will love this escape room-inspired program. Let’s see if you can Escape the Germs!

Is There a Doctor in the House?

Grades: Mixed ages in K-6th grades
Topic: Medical Conditions and Wellness
Cost: $7 per student

Students get the unique, hands-on opportunity to play doctor! They will take temperature, measure heart rate, listen to lungs, test reflexes, check eyes, and much more in order to diagnose their own patient. This program is great for groups with mixed ages as older kids can help younger kids read and document charts.
