HealthWorks! At Home: Hydration

Do you have a hard time getting your kids to drink water? Maybe they just don’t like it or prefer things like soda or juice instead?

Try these tricks and tips:
1: Let them choose a fruit to add to their water. Lemon, lime, and orange are popular water flavors.
2: Try a “fizzy” water! Buy a flavored seltzer or add fruit to a plain seltzer water.
3: Dilute regular juice down with some water. Kids still get the flavor, but not as much sugar and more water.
4: Allow sodas every now and then, but not large ones. Portion size is always important in both food and drink.

Keep track of how much water your family drinks! Maybe create a little chart to keep on the refrigerator showing how often everyone is drinking water. It can look something like the picture below. Celebrate when kids choose water.
